5 Reasons to Wear Comfortable Clothes Whenever Possible

We hear a lot of comments about how comfortable our LatinX T-shirts and hoodies are. Nothing makes us happier. Why? Because comfort is one of our design goals. We want people to be so comfortable wearing our T-shirts and hoodies that they don't want to wear anything else.

We get the fact that a Sin Verguenza Social Club T-shirt is suitable for most occasions… although not all. Likewise, there are certain times when you don't want to wear a Fulana sweatshirt. But that does not mean your clothing has to make you uncomfortable. We are firm believers in wearing comfortable clothes whenever possible.

For the record, here are five reasons explaining why:

1. Comfort Equals Better Performance

Believe it or not, wearing comfortable clothing could mean better performance at work, school, or whatever you do. A 2005 study published in the Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal demonstrated that university students performed better on exams when dressed in clothing they perceived as comfortable. Researchers were led to believe that the better performance was partly due to a self-confidence boost that comfortable clothing provides.

2. Confidence Is Good

Taking the study one step further, confidence in who you are and what you believe is a good thing. If wearing comfortable clothes can increase your confidence, how can that be bad? We are firm believers in living confidently regardless of ethnicity, sex, income, education, etc. Self-confidence is a big part of the Sin Verguenza mindset.

When you are more confident, you are more able to embrace your authentic self. You are better equipped to share that person with other people. In essence, comfortable clothing boosts confidence and confidence is a good thing.

3. Comfort Equals Easier Movement

There is definitely a place for skinny jeans, miniskirts, and tight-fitting shirts. But let's face it, not only is that type of clothing uncomfortable, but it also makes moving more difficult. Comfortable clothing is just the opposite. Loosely fitting jeans and sweatshirts let you sit down without having to worry about busting a seam. It's a lot easier to go dancing in a T-shirt than a skin-tight business shirt and tie.

4. Comfortable Is Usually Less Formal

For some strange reason, the most uncomfortable clothing in the world tends to be formal clothing. Meanwhile, comfortable clothes are usually less formal. We are all for that. There is no need to be so formal unless specific circumstances call for it. So yes, put on your best for your cousin's wedding or your niece's quinceañera. But if circumstances allow yoga pants and a T-shirt, choose comfort over formality.

5. Comfortable Means Letting Your Guard down

There is something else about formal attire that seems very strange: people have a habit of being more guarded when they get dressed up. They have a tendency to be more formal themselves, even if that means pretending to be someone other than who they are. Wearing comfortable clothing changes things.

Being comfortable often equates with being relaxed. And when you're relaxed, you are more likely to let your guard down. This is when you can truly be your authentic self. You're not trying to fit into a mold dictated by others' expectations of what you are wearing. You are free to be you.

Formal clothing does have its place. Unfortunately, formal clothing is often uncomfortable. There is a time and place to shed those uncomfortable clothes in favor of whatever makes you feel good. Just know that a lot of our customers rave about how soft and comfortable our LatinX T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies are. If you are looking for comfortable, why not give Plurawl outfits a try?
