How Has Plurawl Inspired You to Be Your Authentic Self?
There is more to what we do here at Plurawl than just selling LatinX T-shirts, sweatshirts, and artwork. We are a company with a mission. Part of that mission is to inspire the LatinX community to be authentic. This is how we explain it on the front page of our website:
"Our goal is to inspire, encourage, and empower Latinx communities to be their authentic selves."
We know that might mean different things to different people. One person might be inspired by our Sin Verguenza Social Club T-shirts while another finds inspiration in canvas art featuring U.S. representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. It is all good.

What It Means to Be Inspired
Perhaps you are reluctant to share your story because you don't quite know what we are looking for. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary should clear things up. Merriam-Webster defines 'inspire' in three ways:
- To make (someone) want to do something; to give (someone) an idea about what to do or create.
- To cause (something) to happen or be created.
- To cause someone to have (a feeling or emotion).
If you inspire someone, you are the one encouraging that other person to do, create, think, or feel something. Likewise, if you are the one being inspired, you are encouraged to do, think, create, or feel by someone or something else.
Our company's founder was inspired to start Plurawl by the realization that he had a tendency to suppress his authentic self in order to fit in with the environment in which he worked and socialized. In essence, his coworkers and friends became the inspiration for selling LatinX apparel, artwork, and accessories.
Inspiration Comes from Many Sources
One of the most amazing things about inspiration is that it comes from so many sources. Some people are inspired by others whose example encourages them to change the way they live. Others are inspired by compelling stories that give them the drive to reach for their dreams. The possibilities are truly endless.
From our perspective, what inspires you is less important than the fact that you have been inspired. If we can play some role in inspiring you to be your authentic self, we count that as both an honor and a privilege. We hope that you turn around and inspire others to do likewise.
A Company for Change
Here at Plurawl, we obviously want to sell as many sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts, etc. as possible. We want to get our poster and canvas art into the hands of customers across the country. But more importantly, we want to be a company for change. We want to be an instrument of change.
Selling T-shirts and hoodies is a strategy for helping facilitate change within the LatinX community. The hoodies and t-shirts themselves are tools. They encourage our customers to let go of stereotypes and societal conformity in order to be who they are in their innermost beings. That is why we put so much thought into every new product before we release it.
